Vienna is the capital of Austria and the largest city in the country with 1,897,000 inhabitants in 2019 (Wikipedia). The city is located on the Danube and is also a separate Austrian state. The city early became a center for trade between southernmost Europe and Central Europe. Vienna is today the country’s most important industrial city and an equally important center for culture and science. It is the seat of many international organizations such as OPEC, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and is the fourth UN city next to Geneva, Nairobi and New York. Vienna is a significant tourist city and an important hub for traffic in all directions with lively ship traffic on the Danube, a developed motorway and railway system and a dense air route network from the main airport Schwechat to the south-east of the city. Vienna is also of great international importance as a city of culture. Many famous composers and musicians came from this city, such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Arnold Schoenberg. We were on holiday in Vienna in 2011, and stayed at a very nice hotel «Hilton Vienna Plaza» in a great location to see the city. Vienna is an incredibly beautiful city with great architectural buildings. We visited several churches and we were overwhelmed by the beautiful design and decoration there. It was exciting to walk around the city, in antique shops, sit in outdoor restaurants and watch people’s life and more.

Vi besøkte flere kirker og vi ble overveldet av den vakre utformingen og utsmykkingen der.
