Warsaw is the capital and largest city in Poland with 1,750,000 inhabitants in 2017. It has the status of a district-level city and is the center of culture, science, politics and industry. The city received city rights (Magdeburg rights) in 1334. It became the seat of the Duke of Mazovia, and in 1596 it became the capital of the Swedish Vasa dynasty that ruled Poland-Lithuania. We were in Warsaw in December 2013 in connection with a tribute concert to Pink Floyd with the English band «Brit Floyd» which was formed in 2011 in Liverpool in Great Britain. Their live shows try to imitate and recreate the sound and soundscape of Pink Floyd’s live shows. Damian Darlington formed the band after playing with «The Australian Pink Floyd» for 17 years. It was a wonderful concert with an equally wonderful band in the venerable and beautiful theater Sala Kongresowa, which is a theater that was opened in 1955 and has 2,880 seats. We stayed at the Hilton Warsaw City, and got a room on the upper floors with a view of large parts of the city. It was especially beautiful in the evening when we could lie in the hotel room and look out over the city, which was bathed in light from all the houses and buildings there. We would like to travel back to Warsaw again to, among other things, experience the old town and other historical places there.
