Sao Paulo with its 12,325,232 inhabitants in 2020 (Wikipedia), is the largest city in Brazil and likewise the largest city in the southern hemisphere. Sao Paulo experienced a boom when they started growing coffee in the late 19th century. This is because the coffee plantations were located near the port city of Santos, which became Brazil’s most important export port. The city has many immigrants mainly from Italy and Japan, so that the largest concentration of Japanese outside of Japan is here.

For those of us who are interested in football, we wanted to visit «Peles Museum». Pele who was a former Brazilian footballplayer is regarded by many as the best footballplayer of all time. During the World Cup in Sweden in 1958, as a 17-year-old he became the youngest world football champion for Brazil. He also became world champion with Brazil in 1962 and in 1970, and is probably the only player to have been world champion in football three times. Pele has a coffee brand named after him «Cafe Pele» which is sold in more than 50 countries, also in Scandinavia. It was an experience to visit the museum of Pele and feel the proximity of the iconic football great. We also found a cast of Neymar’s feet – another great soccer hero to come from Santos.

For oss som er interessert i fotball var ønsket for oss å besøke Peles Museum. Pele som var en tidligere brasiliansk fotballspiller er av mange sett på som den beste fotballspilleren gjennom tidene. Under VM i Sverige i 1958 ble han som 17-åring den yngste verdensmester i fotball for Brasil. Han ble også verdensmester med Brasil i 1962 og i 1970, og er vel den eneste spilleren som har blitt verdensmester i fotball tre ganger. Pele har et kaffemerke oppkalt etter seg «Cafe Pele» som blir solgt i mer enn 50 land, også i Skandinavia. Det var en opplevelse å besøke museet til Pele og føle på nærheten til den ikoniske fotballstorheten. Vi fant også en avstøpning av Neymars føtter – en annen stor fotballhelt som kommer fra Santos.
