We looked forward to arriving in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city with 181,216 inhabitants in 2018 (Wikipedia), where ethnic Russians and Ukrainians make up the majority of the population. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is the second largest city in the world that cannot be reached by road – only by boat and plane. Situated on high hills and surrounded by volcanoes, the city is a popular travel destination. Around twenty large tourist companies offer various services, including bear hunting and paragliding. We were not allowed to leave the cruise ship to go ashore individually – we had to join a sightseeing tour organized by the cruise company if we wanted to go ashore. We were picked up by bus and were guided around the city. We visited the Trinity Cathedral and the Kamchatka Military History Museum. We were also up at a vantage point where we could enjoy the view of the city, then went to a shopping center before being driven back to the cruise ship. It was very interesting and fascinating to visit Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Vi fikk ikke forlate cruiseskipet for å gå på land hver for oss – vi måtte delta på en sightseeingtur som ble arrangert av cruiseselskapet dersom vi ønsket å gå på land. Vi ble hentet av buss og ble guidet rundt i byen. Vi besøkte Trinity Chathedral og Kamchatka Military History Museum. Vi var også oppe på et utsiktspunkt hvor vi kunne nyte utsikten over byen, for deretter å dra til et shoppingsenter før vi ble kjørt tilbake til cruiseskipet. Det var meget interessant og fasinerende å besøke Petropavlovsk- Kamtsjatskij.
