Honolulu is the largest city and capital of the state of Hawaii in the United States and is located on the island of Oahu. Honolulu is Hawaii’s only big city with 350,395 inhabitants estimated in 2017 (Great Norwegian Encyclopedia). The city is known for the beach Waikiki Beach, which is located in the district of Waikiki. The city’s economy consists of tourism and military defence, and is an important financial center for the entire Pacific region. We found Honolulu to be a big city and more like «American» cities than the other places we visited in the Hawaiian Islands. We stayed in a hotel on the beach and had a few nice days there with swimming, sunbathing and tours in the city.

Vi opplevde at Honolulu var en storby og mer «amerikansk» enn de andre stedene vi besøkte på Hawaiiøyene. Vi bodde på et hotell på stranda og hadde noen fine dager der med bading, soling og turer rundt i byen.
