In the 1920s, Nashville developed into a central city for country music, and today Nashville is considered the capital of country music. There are a number of museums in the city, and for those interested in country music, the «Johnny Cash Museum» with the «Patsy Cline Museum» on the 2nd floor. Historic RCA Studio B is also worth a visit. The most famous radio program «Grand Ole Opry» (from 1925) is broadcast throughout the United States. In the mid-1950s, there was a separate style of music called the «Nashville sound». This is a style in country music from the 50s to the 70s. Pioneers of the «Nashville sound» were RCA Records and Columbia Records in Nashville. The single «Four Walls» with Jim Reeves recorded in 1958 is said to be one of the first recordings with the «Nashville sound». Chet Atkins, RCA producer and guitarist, is considered the mastermind behind the sound with his production of Don Gibson’s «Oh Lonesome Me» in the same year. (Wikipedia).
We have been to Nashville in 2014 and in 2018, and it was a fantastic experience both times with lots of music, concerts, museum visits and folk life. It was an experience to be at concerts with the great and famous country artists in the Grand Ole Opry and Rayman Auditorium, as well as to hear the wonderful band «Time Jumper» playing at «3rd & Lindsey» on Mondays. We also went to a concert with Keith Urban in the Bridgestone Arena. Furthermore, it was a great experience to be at the Blue Bird Cafe and listen to «up-coming» artists, as well as to listen to more unknown country bands in all the pubs along the main street Broadway. Nashville is a wonderful city to visit for those of us who love music – especially country music.
