Monaco is a principality and is the world’s second smallest state in terms of area – only Vatican City is smaller. It is located on the French Riviera, and had approximately 38,350 inhabitants in 2020 (Wikipedia). Monaco is one of the world’s most densely populated countries in terms of area, and the country mainly consists of an urban area. The Monte-Carlo district is home to, among other things, the famous «Casino de Monte-Carlo» and the «Rally Monte-Carlo», which is an event that takes place every year. The old town is located on a 62-metre-high limestone cliff where, among other things, the castle is located. Prince Albert II is the country’s monarch, and although he is a monarch in a representative democracy, he has great political power. He is responsible for the executive power, and the Prime Minister and the government are accountable to him. The government consists of six members who are all appointed by the prince. We had heard and read a lot about Monaco through TV and rejects and looked forward to getting there. We went sightseeing around the city where we were in the Monte-Carlo district and stopped by the «Casino de Monte-Carlo», We went on to the Old Town which is up on the hill with a fantastic view over the city and the harbour. We were at the castle, wandered around the streets and stopped for a cup of coffee at a nice restaurant while we could enjoy the view and the people’s life. Monaco is an exciting and pleasant place to come to and we would love to go back there again.

Vi hadde hørt og lest mye om Monaco gjennom TV og avviser og så med spenning på å komme dit. Vi var på sightseeing rundt i byen hvor vi var i bydelen Monte-Carlo og var innom «Casino de Monte-Carlo», Vi dro videre til Gamlebyen som ligger oppe i høyden med en fantastisk utsikt utover byen og havnen. Vi var ved slottet, vandret rundt i gatene og stoppet for en kopp kaffe på en hyggelig restaurant mens vi kunne nyte utsikten og folkelivet. Monaco er et spennende og hyggelig sted å komme til og vi drar gjerne tilbake dit igjen.
