KAIRO OG NILEN

Cairo is the capital of Egypt and is one of the largest cities in Africa. The city is located on the Nile in northern Egypt. The city had 9,540,000 inhabitants in 2017. On our trip in Cairo, the cruise company arranged sightseeing with a visit to the Pyramids of Giza, which is a large archaeological burial site from ancient Egypt. The three largest pyramids are named after the pharaohs Cheops, Khefren and Menkaura. In addition, we visited the Sphinx in Giza, which is a lion’s body with a human head – and that we took part in a trip on the Nile which included lunch and entertainment including belly dancing.

Kairo er hovedstaden i Egypt og er en av de største byene i Afrika. Byen ligger ved Nilen i det nordlige Egypt. Byen hadde 9 540 000 innbyggere i 2017. På reisen vår i Kairo arrangerte cruiseselskapet sightseeing med et besøk til pyramidene i Giza, som er et stort arkeologisk gravanlegg fra oldtidens Egypt. De tre største pyramidene har navn etter faraoene Keops, Khefren og Menkaura. I tillegg besøkte vi sfinksen i Giza som er en løvekropp med menneskehode – samt at vi var med på tur på Nilen som inkluderte lunch og underholdning med blant annet mavedans.

NILEN

The Nile is a large river in the north-eastern part of Africa, and is considered the world’s longest river, 6,650 kilometers (Wikipedia) – stretching from Lake Victoria in Uganda to the Mediterranean and forming a delta in Egypt. The water resources of the Nile are very important for Egypt.
