Goa is India’s smallest state with approximately 1,628,000 inhabitants (2008). Within Goa’s coastline, which is approximately 130 kilometers long, lies a densely populated delta and plain landscape. The long beaches there have contributed to significant tourism. Agriculture is the most important means of livelihood with the cultivation of rice, pulses, cashew nuts and more. We came by cruise ship to the port of Mormugao, Goa, and participated in sightseeing around the city organized by the cruise company. We were at various markets, wandered around in the streets and visited the cozy restaurant «Casa Ligorio Guest House» where we had a lovely lunch with Indian food. Furthermore, it was interesting to experience a culture where the cows wandered freely in the busy streets and similarly in the markets.

De lange strendene der har bidratt til betydelig turisme. Jordbruk er den viktigste næringsveien med dyrking av ris, belgfrukter, cashewnøtter med mer. Fiske for lokal omsetning er viktig. Vi kom med cruiseskip til havnen Mormugao, Goa, og deltok på sightseeing rundt i byen som ble arrangert av cruiseselskapet. Vi var på ulike markeder, vandret rundt i gatene og besøkte den koselig restauranten «Casa Ligorio Guest House» hvor vi inntok en nydelig lunch med indisk mat. Videre var det interessant å oppleve en kultur hvor kyrne vandret fritt omkring i de trafikkerte gatene og likedan på markedene.
