Agrostoli is a city and former capital and administrative center of Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands of Greece since 1757. The city has since developed into one of the busiest ports in Greece, which has led to the city’s growth and prosperity. The population in 2011 was 10,633 inhabitants (Wikipedia). Buildings that were not destroyed by German bombing during World War II in 1943 were later destroyed in the 1953 earthquake that leveled practically all of Kefalonia, except for the area of Fiskardo. On the coast along the Ionian Sea southwest of the city is the resort of Lassi, which has several smaller beaches (Wikipedia; Google translated).

We visited Argostoli in 2019 in connection with a cruise from Rome to Venice in Italy. It was an exciting city where we went into the center of the city. Here it was tiled streets with small shops with, among other things, Greek handicrafts and markets. We had lunch at a restaurant that was beautifully situated in a park area, where we could enjoy the food and the tranquility in a pleasant atmosphere. Argostoli was a great city to come to – and would love to go back there again.

Her var det flisbelagte gater med små butikker med blant annet gresk håndverk og markeder. Vi spiste lunch på en restaurant som lå vakkert til i et parkområde, hvor vi kunne nyte maten og roen i en behagelig atmosfære. Argostoli var en en flott by å komme til – og kan gjerne reise tilbake dit igjen.
