Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with 1,483,000 inhabitants (2020) – and is the second largest city in the Emirates. It is the center of the oil industry in the country, and one of the world’s richest cities. Oil was found in 1958, which led to great economic growth. We had a few nice days in Abu Dhabi before we left there on a cruise around Dubai, Oman, India, Sri Lanka and to Singapore. We stayed at the cozy Haute Grandeur Hotel, with good food, good service and good beds. We went on a desert safari over the dunes in a Toyota Land Cruiser – a wild and exciting ride. We also visited a Bedouin camp where we could enjoy a buffet dinner, try on Arab robes, ride a camel, belly dance show and experience a wonderful sunset over the desert. We also went on a tour of the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

Vi hadde noen fine dager i Abu Dhabi før vi dro derfra på cruise om Dubai, Oman, India, Sri Lanka og til Singapore. Vi bodde på det koselige Haute Grandeur Hotel, med god mat, god service og gode senger. Vi var på ørkensafari hvor vi ble kjørt over sanddynene i en Toyota Land Cruiser – en vill og spennende tur. Videre besøkte vi en beduinleir hvor vi kunne nyte en buffet middag, fikk prøve arabiske kapper, ri på kamel, show med mavedans samt at vi fikk oppleve en flott solnedgang over ørkenen. Dessuten var vi på omvisning i den flotte Sheikh Zayed-moskeen.
